Story 1: Alex and His Family

My name is Alex. This is our house. I am sitting in the living room now, but I am going to the kitchen. My mother is there, and she is preparing dinner. I am feeling really hungry, so I am hoping she finishes soon.

-Hi mom, is dinner almost ready?

-Hi Alex, yes, the dinner is almost ready. What is Mia doing?

-I don’t know. I think she is playing in her room.

-Can you call her and your father for dinner?

Mia is my sister. She is playing video games in her room.

-Mia! Are you still playing video games? Come on, dinner is ready.

-Just a minute, Alex. I am finishing this level!

I know my dad is watching TV in the living room. Yes, there he is. He is watching a football game.

-Dad, dinner is ready.

-Alright, I am coming.

Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the Present Continuous Tense:

After cleaning my room, I am planning to help my dad in the garden. He is planting flowers, and he is asking me to bring him the tools. My younger brother, Noah, is running around the yard. He is playing with the garden hose and is getting everything wet!

-Noah! Are you spraying water everywhere again?

-Yes! I am making a water park!

Mom is coming outside and is shouting at Noah to stop.

-Noah! Stop! You are soaking everything!

-Okay, okay, I am stopping now.

After that, we all are sitting down for a break. We are drinking lemonade and are laughing at Noah’s water park idea.

-Jake, I am almost done with my assignments. I am planning to come in an hour.

-Cool! We are waiting for you.

Ben is feeling motivated again, so he is returning to his books.
